MoneyLogger — Privacy Policy
MoneyLogger is an offline-first personal finance app. This policy explains what the app accesses, why, and where it goes.
1. Who we are
MoneyLogger is a personal expense and income tracker for Android, published by VibeForge Tech. There is no online service behind it; the app runs entirely on your phone.
2. What the app accesses, and why
Bank transaction SMS
With your permission, MoneyLogger reads bank and card transaction SMS on your device to automatically create entries in your expense/income ledger (for example, turning a "debited ₹500" bank message into a transaction). A prominent in-app disclosure is shown before the permission is requested, and you can decline and enter transactions manually instead.
- SMS are read and parsed on your device only.
- SMS content is never uploaded to us or any third party. We have no server to send it to.
- You can revoke SMS permission at any time in Android Settings; the app then relies on manual and CSV entry.
Other device permissions
| Permission | Why it is used |
|---|---|
| SMS (READ_SMS / RECEIVE_SMS) | Read bank transaction messages to auto-create transactions (above). |
| Camera | Optional: attach a receipt photo to a transaction. Photos stay on the device. |
| Notifications | Local budget alerts, bill reminders, and daily summaries. |
| Biometric / Fingerprint | Optional app lock. |
| Internet | Only for the optional Google Drive backup you choose to enable. No other network use. |
| Boot completed / Wake lock / Battery optimisation / Vibrate | Keep scheduled reminders and background capture reliable. |
3. Where your data is stored
- All transactions, accounts, categories, budgets, and settings are stored in a private database on your device, inside the app's private storage.
- We do not transmit this data to our servers (we have none), and we do not share it with advertisers, analytics providers, or any third party.
- The app contains no third-party advertising or analytics SDKs. Crash and diagnostic logs, if any, are kept locally on the device and are not sent anywhere.
4. Optional Google Drive backup
If you choose to turn on Google Drive backup:
- A backup of your database is encrypted on your device and uploaded to your own Google Drive (in an app folder), using your Google sign-in.
- The backup lives in your Google account; we never receive or access it.
- You can turn backup off and delete backups at any time from within the app.
- If you do not enable it, no data ever leaves your device.
Your use of Google Drive is also subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
5. Data sharing and selling
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal or financial data with anyone. There is no third party that receives your data from the app.
6. Data retention and deletion
- Your data remains on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app.
- You can delete individual records, clear app data from within the app, or uninstall the app to remove all local data.
- Deleting the app does not delete any Google Drive backups you created; remove those from your Google Drive if you wish.
7. Security
Your data is protected by Android's app sandboxing and your device's security. You can add an extra PIN or biometric app lock inside MoneyLogger. Google Drive backups are encrypted.
8. Children
MoneyLogger is a personal-finance tool intended for adults and is not directed to children.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. The "Effective date" above reflects the latest version. Material changes will be reflected on this page (and in the app's About screen link).
